Pre-con #1:  End-to-end Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing with SQL Server 
When: Thursday November 15th, 2012 9:00am to 5:00pm

This full-day workshop aims to provide attendees with conceptual knowledge and practical skills to design and develop a multidimensional Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solution. We will do an intro to Kimball style (star schema) data warehouse database modeling, covering concepts like slowly-changing dimensions Type 0,1,2,3,4 & 6, role-playing dimensions, attributes, facts, measures, hierarchies, parent-child relationships, and more. Attendees will learn how to develop SSIS Packages to load a data warehouse, Analysis Services Cubes & basic MDX, Reporting Services reports and Performance Point dashboards. In addition, attendees will learn how to implement self-service BI using PowerPivot and Power View. 

This is a hands-on workshop with group and individual labs. Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops with installed software. A download with lab material and installation requirements will be provided in advanced.

This is a great intro session to get you started as a BI developer!

Presenter Bio: Jose Chinchilla, MCITP, is a Microsoft Certified Database Administrator and Business Intelligence Architect, President of Agile Bay, Inc. a full-service IT consulting firm specializing in BI and Data Warehousing. Jose has developed expertise developing Data Warehouses, OLAP Cubes, Master Data Management and Data Quality frameworks, Performance Point dashboards and self-service BI models using the SQL Server and SharePoint. He is also the current president of the Tampa Bay Business Intelligence User Group and PASS Regional Mentor for the Greater Southeast.

Pre-con #2: Fundamentals of Scientific Data Mining with SQL Server and Excel

SQL Server 2012 provides enterprise-level data mining technology, ranging from supporting individual analysts through scalable server solutions.  This one-day seminar provides an overview of SQL Server Data Mining within the context of applied practice of the scientific method.  The course instructor brings his past experience in not only consulting but also from teaching statistics at the undergraduate and graduate level (Georgia Institute of Technology; University of Phoenix).   The overall goal is to explain data mining in a scientifically accurate way while making the technology practically accessible and even fun.
